PHILLIPSBURG -- The Panthers stayed right with the No. 1 ranked team in Class 3A through the first half, but the Trojans broke things open with an 85-yard run in the Class 3A, District 14 opener. Beloit averages a little more than 52 points per game, while Phillipsburg had been holding teams to six points per game in its 6-0 start. The Panthers travel to 3-4 Minneapolis for its second district matchup Friday. Beloit hosts plays host to 5-2 Norton.

DIGHTON -- Victoria moved one step closer to an Eight-Man Division II, District 7 title by moving to 7-0 and 3-0 in district play. Dighton fell to 4-3, 2-1 in district play and remains in second place. Brady Dinnkel rushed 11 times for 43 yards and threw for 30 yards. The 20-0 final was the score at halftime. Lane Kisner rushed 14 times for 64 yards and Bryan Dome finished with nine carries for 38 yards. Victoria travels to 1-6 Western Plains in district play Friday. Dighton plays at Sylvan-Lucas (2-5). Those two teams are tied at 2-1 in district play.

LA CROSSE -- After falling down 14-0, unbeaten La Crosse (7-0) scored 30 unanswered to move to 2-0 in Class 2-1A, District 5 play. Sterling fell to 2-5, and remains in second place at 2-1 in district play. Quarterback Jack Garcia finished 9 of 15 passing for 201 yards with three TDs and one interception for the Leopards. Marshall Jay had 109 receiving yards on four catches. La Crosse managed 104 rushing yards from four different ball carriers. Lucas Moeder rushed 13 times for 51 yards. La Crosse, the No. 2 ranked team in Class 2-1A, plays at 0-7 Ellinwood on Friday.

OSBORNE -- Eight-Man Division I's highest scoring team, Osborne, posted a season-high 80 points, a week after scoring a season-high 74. The win pushed the Bulldogs to 4-0 in Eight-Man Division I, District 4. Clifton-Clyde is second in the district at 4-1. Maverick LeRock and Kenton Ubelaker combined for 220 rushing yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns. LeRock scored three times on 12 carries and Ubelaker once on 14 carries. Quarterback Jake Tiernan completed 11 of 14 passes for 241 yards and four scores to one interception. Brandt Wolters caught five passes for 144 yards with three scores. Osborne, ranked No. 2 in Division I, plays at 1-6 Pike Valley this week.

Katt rushed nine times for 164 yards and four touchdowns as the game ended in the third quarter via the mercy rule. Hoxie has won its last three district games a combined 142-26 with two shutouts. Hoxie hosts Quinter (2-5) on Friday. Hill City lost its third straight since picking up its first win. The Ringnecks travel to 1-6 Trego on Friday.

Garrett Krueger added 94 yards on five touches with two scores. Thunder Ridge moved to 3-1 in Eight-Man II, District 5 play, still behind leader Beloit/St. John's-Tipton (7-0). Thunder Ridge travels to 3-2 Northern Valley in a key district matchup on Friday, then is open in the final week of the season. Cheylin (2-5) lost its third straight game as the Cougars return to District 6 play this week against Greeley County.

Phillip Bryant added 173 yards on 23 carries with a pair of scores. Jordan Baird also had 157 yards on 20 carries with four scores. Ethan Hamel had 17 carries for 192 yards and two scores. The Tigers (1-6, 0-4) in district travel south to play Kiowa County (7-0) in a non-district game this week.

Sam Rivera rushed 19 times for 143 yards and a score for Western Plains. The Bobcats hosts unbeaten Victoria this week. Otis-Bison travels to 1-6 Wilson.

Tanner McMillen rushed 12 times for 94 yards for the Eagles with one score, while he passed for 80 yards and two scores to one interception. Cade Papes fueled the offense for Trego wtih 22 carries for 112 yards and the lone score. Ness City travels to Atwood-Rawlins County (7-0) for a key district game this week. Trego plays host to 1-6 Hill City.

Oakley's only loss is to Phillipsburg, and the six points allowed were the first points given up by Oakley outside of that loss all season. Noah Nelson scored the lone touchdown for Oberlin, which fell to 1-1 in district play. The Red Devils play host to Ellis, which is 2-0 in district play, this week. Oakley has an open date, before it finishes the season at Ellis in Week 9.
