MANHATTAN -- The Hays Eagles Legion baseball team fell to the Salina Falcons, 6-5, on Sunday in the championship game of the 22nd annual Tournament of Champions, hosted by Manhattan-Manko at Kansas State University's Tointon Family Stadium.

Salina scored three of its runs in the top of the first inning, with Hays getting one back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI-single by Kade Parker. Salina extended its lead to 4-1 after another run in the top of the second and a fifth run in the top of the fifth.

The Eagles (5-2) trailed 6-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning when an RBI-double by Dalton Stout made it 6-2.

The Hays rally continued into the seventh and final inning, when the Eagles scored three runs to get within a single run. The comeback attempt fell short when Jared Haynes struck out swinging with two runners on base.

Marcus Altman (1-1) took the loss for the Eagles, pitching 5.2 innings. He allowed 10 hits and five earned runs to go with five walks and two strikeouts.
