WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- With four TDs in the first half, the Fort Hays State University football team raced out to a 27-0 lead Saturday at the University of Central Missouri.

However, the Mules responded with 41 unanswered points and eventually won 48-34, snapping the Tigers' 5-game winning streak.

Fort Hays dropped to 5-5 overall and 3-5 in MIAA play. Central Missouri moved to 6-4 overall and 5-4 in MIAA play, securing a winning season. It marks the eighth straight game the Tigers have lost to the Mules. FHSU has not defeated Central Missouri since joining the MIAA.

Treveon Albert and Keaton Callins had a big day for the Tigers. Albert accounted for all four first-half touchdowns -- three through the air and one on the ground. For the game, Albert finished 21 of 40 passing for 313 yards and four scores. Two TDs went to Callins, the other two to Ed Williams. Callins finished with eight catches for 149 yards. Williams caught three passes for 49 yards and the two scores.

Central Missouri quarterback Hayden Hawk completed 27 of 35 passes for 350 yards and four touchdowns.

In the fourth quarter, the Tigers battled back to within seven after falling down by 14, but gave up a 91-yard kickoff return on the ensuing kickoff that essentially sealed the game. The Tigers have a chance to get back above .500 when they play host the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday on senior day at Lewis Field Stadium. Start time is 2 p.m.
