OLATHE -- The Fort Hays State University men's soccer team advanced to the championship game of the MIAA Tournament after a 3-2 win over Northeastern State on Thursday.

First team All-MIAA selection Ricardo Yeverino scored the opening goal barely 11 minutes into the match, his 11th of the season. NSU answered 30 seconds later to tie it at 1-1.

Michael Cole scored for FHSU in the 23rd minute to give the Tigers the lead back, and Cole added a second goal midway through the second half to stretch the lead to 3-1.

NSU's final goal came in the 66th minute from Jordan Schmoker, who had both of the RiverHawks' goals.

FHSU will play Lindenwood at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the College Boulevard Activities Complex in Olathe for the MIAA championship. Lindenwood is the top overall seed in the tournament, and defeated Upper Iowa 3-1 on Thursday in the semifinals.

FHSU (12-4-2, 6-1-2 MIAA) lost 4-3 in its only match against Lindenwood (16-0-2, 7-0-1 MIAA) on Oct. 3. The Lions are ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II.
