JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State University freshman Madison Wolf won the MIAA javelin title and continued her outstanding season with a throw of 155 feet, 1 inch this past weekend. Wolf's throw beat her previous season-high and was another NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark. Makayla McPhail had won the previous two MIAA javelin titles for Fort Hays and went on to All-American honors.

The 400-meter relay team took second in 46.60 seconds, a provisional mark.

As well, Samantha Woodburn ran 11.71 seconds in the 100 and 23.95 seconds in the 200, both FHSU records that broke the previous marks of Sabrina Jensen, set in 2003. Jensen ran 11.77 and 23.97. Both marks came in the prelims. Woodburn eventually took third in both events when she ran 11.86 and 24.16 seconds in Saturday's finals.

Sam Szczublewski broke the Fort Hays record in the 800-meter run when she ran 2:14.71 in the prelims and bested the time of 2:14.74 set by Martha Martin in 1977. In the 800 finals, Szczublewski ran 2:14.51 to break her one-day school mark.

Jessica Kobza also finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 146-3, which upped her provisional mark in the event. Fort Hays eventually finished eighth with 55 points, but just four points back of fifth.

Kylie Gaughan ran 11:31.93 for a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

On the men's side, the Tigers took 10th with 25 points. Brady Tien set a new personal best of 16-8 in the pole vault and finished third. He now ranks ninth nationally. Vazquez also finished third in the 100-meter dash in 10.73 seconds.
