FHSU women pick up road win

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University women's basketball team bounced back from its first loss with a 67-53 victory Saturday at Missouri Western State University.
Kate Lehman recorded her fourth straight double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, plus blocked eight shots in the victory. The win moves the Tigers to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in MIAA play. Missouri Western dropped to 4-3 overall, 0-1 MIAA.
The Tigers jumped out to an 11-2 lead out of the gate and never trailed in the contest. Tera Ingalsbe was the only other Tiger in double figures with 10. FHSU later had an 11-2 run in the second half after leading by 17 at the break. FHSU finished just 39.7 percent shooting but held Missouri Western to 26.4 percent shooting and no double-digit scorers.
It was Tiger coach Tony Hobson's 500th career win as a head coach.
FHSU is off until Dec. 16 when it hosts the University of St. Mary at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
