HHS wrestling seventh at Colby

COLBY -- The Hays High School wrestling team took seventh place in the 18-team field at the Colby Dual Tournament on Friday and Saturday, placing third in its respective pool. Pine Creek was the overall winner as well as the winner in the Indians' pool.

Hays High senior Preston Weigel was named the outstanding upper weight wrestler in his pool, which featured Pine Creek, Phillipsburg, Hutchinson, Oberlin and Scott City. Weigel was 4-0 at 195 pounds in the tournament, finishing all of his opponents.

Junior Ethan Deterding also was 4-0 for the Indians, wrestling at 182 pounds.

The Indians next compete at home on Thursday at the 4 p.m. Hays Double Dual at the HHS gym with Pratt and Plainville.
