The Hays Larks got two hits from five different players Sunday, and came away with an 8-1 victory against El Dorado in Jayhawk League action.

Aaron Cornell, Ty Detmer, Derek Birginske, Zair Koeiman and Nate Olinger each collected two hits as Hays led 6-0 after five innings in the series finale.

The win helped Hays to a 2-1 win in the series, and pushes the Larks to 14-9 overall and 10-9 in third place in the league.

El Dorado dropped to 8-12 overall and 6-12 in league play, just above Dodge City.

Hays now has won four of its last five games.

Brett DeGagne made his Larks debut on the mound. The North Dakota sophomore pitched four innings. He gave up three hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Craig Larkin picked up the win in two innings of relief, his first decision in seven appearances. Austin Unrein and D.J. Carr retired the final nine batters to seal the win.

Cornell had a home run in the seventh that drove in two runs. Detmer and Olinger also drove in a pair of runs each.

The Larks play host to Dodge City on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. start at Larks Park.

Then, Hays hits the road for three straight, starting with Wednesday's 7 p.m. game at Dodge City.

Saturday

Hays 6, El Dorado 4

After falling Friday in 10 innings to the Broncos, the Larks grabbed a 6-4 win Saturday in front of a large crowd on hand for Larkstoberfest/Old-Timers' Night.

Hays jumped out to a 6-0 lead, helped by a five-run second inning, then held on for the victory. Nick Goza picked up the win in six innings pitched. He gave up three runs (all earned) on six hits with four strikeouts to one walk. Carr pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save.

El Dorado scored a run in the sixth, then rallied with three runs combined in the seventh and eighth before Carr closed the door.

In Hays' five-run second inning, Detmer, Derrick Mount, Michael Burns and Cooper Langley each drove in runs with base hits, while Evan Gruener lined out to center field to drive in a run as the Larks batted around.

Cornell finished 3 for 5 for Hays in the leadoff spot and scored twice. He had the only multi-hit/multi-run game for Hays.
