Two TMP golfers headed to state

SYRACUSE -- Two golfers from Thomas More Prep-Marian are headed to the Class 3-2-1A state golf tournament. Monica and Hannah Michaud finished 12th and 14th, respectively, Monday at the regional at Tamarisk Golf Course. Monica, a senior, finished with a 114, while Hannah, a sophomore, fired a 116. The Monarchs finished fifth as a team with a 473. Cimarron took top team honors with a 420.
Sophomores Annaka Applequist (118) and Taylor Dinkel (125) finished 17th and 18th, respectively, to round out TMP's scoring. Sophomore Taryn Rupp (145) and senior Kayla Hockett (154) also competed. St. Francis junior Kyla Bandal finished with a 94 to finish third and also qualify. The 3-2-1A state meet is Monday at Southwind Country Club in Garden City.
Goodland wins, Colby second
At Colby, the Goodland Cowgirls won the Class 4A regional with a 383, ahead of Colby, which finished with a 398. Individually, Russell's Alex Ptacek finished second with a 90, and will be joined at the 4A state finale by sophomore teammate Megan Boxberger. The Class 4A state meet is Monday at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg.
