Larks fall to Liberal

LIBERAL -- The Hays Larks lost 9-5 on the road to the Liberal BeeJays on Friday night. Center fielder Aaron Cornell returned to the lineup after missing time with a knee injury.

The Larks had 12 hits, three from left fielder Clayton Garland. Cornell and Desmond Roberts both delivered doubles. Liberal delivered 16 hits.

Hays committed three errors.

Hays scored three runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the eighth. Jason Zgardowski took the loss after he allowed five runs (four earned) on 13 hits in six innings.

Brandon Anderson pitched the final two innings and allowed four runs on three hits.

Liberal scored one run in the first and third, three in the fourth, two in the seventh and two in the eighth. Hays stands at 21-7, 15-7 Jayhawk League. The series contined Saturday night.
