TMP golfers head to state after regional win

CIMARRON -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian boys' golf team qualified for its third straight state tournament on Monday.

TMP took first with a team score of 332 on Monday at the Class 3A regional in Cimarron. It is the Monarchs' third consecutive regional title.

The Monarchs narrowly edged regional runner-up Phillipsburg, who had 335, but both squads qualified for the state tournament on Monday in Seneca at the Spring Creek Golf Course.

TMP senior Kade Megaffin was second with a 76, and sophomore Max Megaffin placed fifth with an 80. Freshman Hayden Rohr medalled in 10th with an 86.

Sophomore Lane Fisher rounded out the team score in 17th with a 90.

Phillipsburg also had three golfers place in the top 10.

Panther senior Ryan Hoover placed third with an 80, sophomore Jaron Kellerman was seventh with an 83 and sophomore Lucas Jacobs took ninth with an 84.

Junior Michael Dusin was the final Panther scorer, placing 14th with an 88.

Norton also competed at Cimarron and finished sixth.
