Cherokee County sheriff is Kan. Sheriff of Year

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) -- The Cherokee County Sheriff has been named the 2013 Sheriff of the Year for Kansas.

The Joplin Globe reports (http://bit.ly/HWPCED ) that the Kansas Sheriff's Association selected Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves as the 2013 Kansas Sheriff of the Year at its annual fall conference in Hutchinson.

Groves was first elected in 2008 and is in his second term as sheriff.
