BELPRE -- Two vehicles collided at 7:10 a.m. Monday on U.S. 50, causing possible injuries to Luke A. Snyder, 30, St. John, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident happened about two miles west of Belpre. The 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Snyder was eastbound on U.S. 50 when it hit an icy, snow-packed section and skidded out of control, according the highway patrol report. The car struck the 2002 Freightliner semitrailer driven by David Posada-Martinez, 51, Garden City. The Freightliner went into the south ditch and jackknifed, while the car continued spinning on the ice and eventually went into the south ditch, too, the report said.

Posada-Martinez was not injured.
