FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) -- A fire at Fort Riley fueled by strong winds burned 2,500 acres of grass but caused no structural damage of injuries.

Fort spokesman Steve Elstrom says the blaze started about 2 p.m. Tuesday during a military training exercise on the northwest side of the fort.

KCLY reports firefighters from Fort Riley and Riley County fought the blaze on both sides of U.S. 77, with the majority on the east side but including an area approaching the Military Marina.
