Pair of Class 4A seconds for Colby

SALINA -- Russell High School's Chase Prester came away with a sixth-place finish Satuday at the Class 4A state wrestling championships at Salina's Bicentennial Center, while Colby earned three medals in the final day.

Colby's Andrew Taylor was second at 182 pounds. Taylor lost to Columbus' Jace McDown and finished his season at 36-5. The Eagles' Tate Carney also was second at 106 pounds. He fell to Basehor-Linwood's Corbin Nirschi in the title match, and finished the season 36-5.

Austin Hart placed third for Colby at 220 pounds after losing in the quarterfinals on Day 1. Hart came back to defeat DeSoto's Chandler Carter with a sudden victory to move to 40-9.

Goodland's John Peden came away with a fourth-place finish at 160 pounds to finish 45-2. Peden, after a loss in the quarterfinals to Fort Scott's John Hughes, then lost again in the third-place match to Hughes.

Tate Wihtington earned Goodland's other medal at 106 pounds with a sixth-place finish.
