Brownback plans to see Obama in Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback says he hopes to see President Barack Obama when he makes a visit Friday to Lawrence.

The Republican governor says Tuesday that he hasn't been invited to attend Obama's event at the University of Kansas but plans to go if he is asked to attend.

Obama hasn't said why he is visiting Kansas. State Democratic leaders say they have been asked to find a venue that could hold between 3,000 and 6,000 people for the president's appearance.

Brownback joked that maybe he and Obama, an avid basketball fan, could shoot a few hoops during the visit. Lawrence is home to the Kansas Jayhawks, who lost to Michigan in the NCAA tournament.
