Tiger softball 1-1 in Day 1 of tourney

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Fort Hays State University softball team split the first two games of the Minnesota-Duluth tournament Sunday. The Tigers, ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II, lost to University of Mary, 5-3, then came back to beat Minot State, 6-5, in eight innings.

Sarah Cochran lasted one out in Game 1 and took the loss. In Game 2, FHSU used a sacrifice fly in the eighth in a comeback victory. Paxton Duran moved to 5-0. In the day's third game, FHSU trailed Minnesota-Duluth, 3-2, after five innings in a game that was scheduled to be completed today.

The Tigers were also scheduled for two more games against Minot State and Duluth.
