Tiger tennis earns first MIAA victory

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University women's tennis team picked up a 5-4 win in MIAA action Saturday against Missouri Western State Unviersity.

The Tigers went 1-1 in their weekend road trip after a 5-1 loss to Northwest Missouri State University on Friday in Maryville, Mo.

Against Mo. Western, FHSU took two of the three doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3. Brittney Ricci and Katie Hipp won at No. 2 doubles, while Reinette Strydom and Michelle Miller won at No. 3.

FHSU won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles with Ricci and Camille Caron-Bedard winning their matches 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Miller won at No. 3 singles to claim the win for the Tigers.

FHSU travels again this weekend to Jefferson City, Mo., to face Lincoln on Friday, and to Bolivar, Mo., on Saturday to face Southwest Baptist.
