Highway Patrol trooper hurt in Topeka collision

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper is hurt after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle while he was responding to a report of a break-in in Topeka.

The Topeka Capital-Journal (http://bit.ly/1aWhMsc) reports 35-year-old trooper Ryan Goubeaux was driving east in the city with his lights and sirens on when his car was struck by a northbound vehicle in an intersection.

Police say the impact spun the patrol car around and caused it to strike two other vehicles in the westbound lane.

The driver of the Honda Civic that struck Goubeaux's car was identified as 22-year-old Jack Auten, who wasn't injured.

The trooper was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
