TMP boys claim fifth place in Hillsboro

HILLSBORO -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian boys' basketball team trailed by one point at the end of the first quarter of Saturday's fifth-place game of the Hillsboro Trojan Classic at Hillsboro High School.

That turned into a seven-point lead for the Monarchs by halftime against Riley-Riley County. Then in the second half, TMP dominated en route to a 61-42 victory against the Falcons.

The Monarchs trailed 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, then led 25-19 at halftime, TMP quickly jumped out on the Falcons in the third quarter and built up a nine-point lead. In the fourth quarter, the Monarchs outscored Riley County 24-14 to coast to the victory. It was TMP's final season in the Trojan Classic, as the Monarchs will participate next year in the Mid-Continent League Tounrament.

TMP finished 2-1 in the tournament, and moved to 6-6 on the season. The Monarchs travel to Hoisington on Thursday for MCAA action.
