Event planned to address Vine Street construction

The city of Hays will host a public information meeting regarding the proposed reconstruction of Vine Street from 13th to 22nd streets.

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kansas Department of Transportation Area Headquarters conference room, 1811 W. Frontier Road, south of Interstate 70 along the east side of U.S. Highway 183 Alternate.

Open to the public, the meeting primarily will be geared toward property owners and tenants located within the construction zone.

The pavement from 13th to 22nd streets on Vine will be replaced as part of a Kansas Department of Transportation Connecting Link Grant. This is the second and final phase of construction for a project to replace the pavement on Vine Street from 13th to 27th streets.

Construction is scheduled to start in early April and continue through July. During construction, only one lane of traffic will run in each direction. Left turns will be prohibited in the construction zone.
