The USD 489 Board of Education will get a look Monday night at a preliminary draft of the capital outlay budget in the Toepfer Board Room at Rockwell Administration Center, 323 W. 12th.
Capital outlay budget revenue is estimated at $3,227,300, and expenditures -- which include repairs, remodeling, some maintenance salaries and leases -- are expected to be about $2,824,250.
Of the remainder, $200,000 is earmarked for an emergency reserve fund and the rest held over for the next year.
A discussion of contracts, tabled from last Monday's meeting, is also on the agenda.
Superintendent Will Roth and Bill Jeter, board attorney, will lead the discussion on contract policy, and Jeter will make a recommendation on administrators' and directors' contracts.
The contracts were placed on the agenda after now board president Greg Schwartz found discrepancies in some contracts.
Schwartz said earlier this week he asked the building administrators and directors to attend last Monday in case the board had questions.
It was not to "take any action on any one of them," he said.
After the contract discussion was tabled because of three long executive sessions, he said it wasn't likely they would be asked to attend Monday's work session.
Other items on the work session agenda include:
* Proposals for soda at Hays High School.
* Student and employee handbooks.
* Committee appointments.
* Bids for paper and wireless upgrades.
* Multi-peril insurance for 2013-14 school year.
* Board attorney retainer fee.
