Three hurt when semi hits rolling car

5/17/2013

Three Oklahoma residents were hurt in an accident at 1:24 p.m. Thursday just east of Ellis on Interstate 70 when the car they were in rolled in front of a semi.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Michael Anthony Llanos, Sapulpa, 45, Okla., was westbound on I-70 when it drifted into the median. The driver overcorrected, crossed in front of a semi, struck the opposite guardrail and rolled. The semi, driven by Larry R. Collins, 36, Trinway, Ohio, then struck the car as it was rolling.

The driver and two passengers -- Reese M. Llanos, 11, and Erich Anthony Llanos, 18, both of Sapulpa -- were taken to Hays Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Collins was not injured.

According the KHP, only Erich Llanos was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
