WaKeeney man killed in Scott County accident

SCOTT CITY -- WaKeeney truck driver Timothy Allen Smith, 58, was killed in an accident at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday just outside Scott City.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported two semis collided in the accident. The first vehicle, a 2002 Mack driven by Christopher Thomas Koger, 25, Ness City, was northbound on Indian Road, while Smith's 1995 Freightliner was westbound on Kansas Highway 96.

As Koger crossed K-96, it was struck by Smith's semi.

Koger's vehicle rolled, while Smith's came to rest in a ditch a caught fire.

Koger was transported to Scott County Hospital for treatment of possible injuries, while Smith was taken to Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.

The KHP reported both drivers were wearing seat belts.
