The Cerv's Conoco at 27th and Vine in Hays is offering a new option for dessert fans.

Swirln-Dippity frozen yogurt now is available. For 49 cents per ounce, customers can customize the cold treat with 13 flavors and approximately 40 toppings.

Russ Pfannenstiel, the convenience store's owner, said he had the idea for several years. Remodeling the store freed up the space to add the yogurt and topping buffet.

"It's something that we felt was missing within this town," Pfannenstiel said.

Carissa Kotschwar, a Cerv's employee, said the dessert has been well-received since it debuted Thursday.

"It's been astronomical," she said. "It's gone over very well."

The sea salt caramel pretzel flavor has been the most popular yogurt. Topping options include M&Ms, mini Junior Mints, Oreo cookies, Nerds candy, cookie dough and frosted animal crackers.

Jessie Havice, a graduate student at Fort Hays State University, visited Saturday and mixed cheesecake and mango yogurt together with nuts and strawberries. Havice said she expects Swirln-Dippity to make Cerv's even more popular.

The Swirln-Dippity stands are open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
