Area bridge projects resume

Special to The Hays Daily News

In the next few weeks, two Interstate 70 bridge repair jobs and another bridge job on U.S. Highway 183 in Ellis County are scheduled to resume.

The bridges on interstate are at the Ellis interchange and the Walker interchange.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, at times, during construction. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph through the work zone.

The third location is on U.S. 183 at the bridge spanning the Smoky Hill River near Schoenchen.

Thes project began last fall, but temporarily shut down during the winter months.

The work includes repairing the bridges and placing a polymer overlay on the driving deck of the bridges, said KDOT Construction Engineer Nick Rogers of the Hays construction office.

Weather permitting, the construction projects will be completed early part this summer.
