Possible litigation discussed at closed meeting
By MATTHEW KENWRIGHT
A lawsuit might be on the horizon for the city of Hays.
Toby Dougherty, Hays city manager, asked for a closed meeting Thursday after the Hays City Commission adjourned.
"I request an executive session for a period not to exceed 25 minutes to discuss matters of pending litigation and attorney-client privilege," he said.
Dougherty attended the meeting along with the assistant city manager, commissioners, city attorney and public works director.
John T. Bird, Hays city attorney, said he could not discuss the case. It was not indicated whether the city was initiating or reacting to litigation.
Paul Briseno, assistant city manager, said there is no timeline for the possible litigation.
