Four hospitalized after head-on crash


CEDAR BLUFF RESERVOIR -- Four people were hurt in an accident at 4:45 p.m. Thursday when two vehicles struck nearly head-on at the crest of a hill south of the Trego County lake.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said a 2011 GMC Denali driven by Nichole D. Campbell, 41, Hoxie, was eastbound on County Road AA just east of U.S. Highway 283 when it met a westbound 2006 Honda Pilot driven by Victoria E. Miller, 20, Sand Springs, Okla.

Campbell was transported to Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, for treatment of injuries.

Three passengers in Miller's vehicle were hospitalized: Jessica M. Murphy, 35, Stillwater, Okla., and Rachel Miller, 11, Sand Springs, were taken to the WaKeeney hospital for treatment, while Jaisey P. Critchfield, 16, Hill City, was flown to Via Christi, Wichita, for treatment.
