If all goes as forecast, it’s going to be a stunning week for anyone planning to attend this year’s Wild West Festival in downtown Hays.

Relatively mild temperatures and light winds will be the norm, with especially cool nights and mornings, according to the Dodge City National Weather Service. There’s little chance for rainfall during the week.

Wednesday’s start of the Wild West Festival will be greeted by a high of 86, with light south winds increasing in the morning — but only to 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday night’s low should drop to approximately 63 degrees.

On the Fourth of July, the forecast is for a high of 89 degrees, falling to 66 degrees at night.

Friday will be a bit warmer, but only by a couple degrees. It’s the same with the nighttime low.

Saturday will be the warmest day of the festival, according to the current forecast, with a high near 93. But the temperature should fall to 70 degrees at night.
