Four passengers suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ellis County on Interstate 70.

Four passengers suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ellis County on Interstate 70.

William Jose Harlan, 60, Joplin, Mo., said he believed he fell asleep while driving east in a 2005 Honda, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report. Harlan crossed the center median and struck Tracy T. Bryant, 46, WaKeeney, who was driving a 2008 Ford F-450 truck. Bryant denied treatment at the scene, and Harlan was taken to Hays Medical Center with possible injuries.

Harlan's three passengers also were taken to HaysMed. Naomi N. Brannen, 26, Joplin, Phillip M. Harlan, 24, Joplin, and Andrew S. Harlan, 28, Joplin, all sustained possible or confirmed injuries.

William, Phillip and Brannen were not wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
