Three Colorado residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident just west of Ellis on Interstate 70 at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

A Toyota car was traveling westbound near mile marker 145 when the driver, Rhyan Dawn Hand, 17, Pueblo West, Colo., lost control on the icy road.

The vehicle fish-tailed and struck the guardrail before entering the north ditch.

Hand was not injured, but his three passengers, including an 8-year-old child, were taken to Hays Medical Center for possible injuries.

All four were wearing safety belts, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
