One teen dies, three hurt in Smith County accident

KENSINGTON -- One teenager died and three others were injured after all were ejected from a pickup that rolled multiple times on a county road Monday afternoon in Smith County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Riley Reneberg, 16, Kensington, died in the accident, and three members of his sophomore class at Thunder Ridge High School in Kensington were injured.
Ethan Sarr, 16, Kensington, was driving westbound on Smith County Road 160 about a mile north of Kensington at 3:38 p.m. when his vehicle entered the north ditch with the passenger side tires and lost control of the vehicle.
Neither Sarr nor Reneberg, who was riding in the passenger seat of the cab, were wearing seat belts. Sarr was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb.
Two other passengers, 15-year-old Michael Wagenblast, Athol, and 16-year-old Logan Miller, Kensington, also were ejected and were transported to the Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center.
Wagenblast and Miller were riding in the bed of the pickup.
