A four-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in Thomas County shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday sent one person to Citizens Medical Center with possible injuries. The other nine people involved in the accident were not injured, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on westbound I-70 new mile marker 45. A Suburban driven by Raymond Jackson McInvale, Vian, Okla., stopped in the driving lane.

A second vehicle driven by Donald Lafe Wayne, Springfield, Mo., attempted to avoid the vehicle, but hit the trailer attached to the Suburban. Wayne's vehicle came to rest in the median.

A third vehicle, driven by Sara Launa Lewis, Oklahoma City, also attempted to avoid McInvale's vehicle, but was rear-ended by a fourth vehicle, driven by Edward D. Miller, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Miller's vehicle then also struck the first vehicle that had stopped on the highway.

The only person who sustained possible injuries, according to the report, was Alan Lewis, Oklahoma City, who was one of four passengers in Lewis' vehicle.

Another passenger was an infant girl, who reportedly was not injured in the accident.
