Authors will speak at museum

The Ellis County Historical Society will have two authors give lectures this weekend.
Scheduled to talk at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellis County Historical Society Museum, 100 W. Seventh, is Jeff Broome, who will discuss his new book, "Cheyenne War."
At 3 p.m. Sunday, Deb Bisel will discuss her book, "Kansas Forts and Bases."
Broome, a philosophy professor at Arapahoe County Community College in Littleton, Colo., will discuss attacks on the road to Denver from 1864 to 1869. He also will discuss his previous books, "Custer into the West" and "Dog Soldier Justice." Broome is working on a book about Wild Bill Hickok during his time in Hays.
Bisel, who has served as president of the Shawnee County Historical Society, covers Fort Hays and other military installations in her book. Bisel also is the author of "The Civil War in Kansas."
Admission is free to both events.
