The certified public accounting firm of Adams, Brown, Beran & Ball recently announced the addition of Jami Bouray as a full-time staff accountant. Bouray joined the firm in 2012 as an intern and part-time staff accountant. Bouray's responsibilities now include preparing tax returns, assisting with audit functions, and compiling, preparing and maintaining financial data and records for clients. Bouray is a 2013 cum laude graduate of Fort Hays State University, where she received bachelor's degrees in accounting and finance. She is studying for the CPA exam.

Dave Tremain replaced General Manager and President Ron Straub at the Straub International Great Bend store. Tremain previously worked as a territory sales manager for Case IH in western Kansas, so he is familiar with the market. Prior to working as a sales manager for Case IH, Tremain worked as a service manager at Krone NA in Memphis and was transferred to Kansas to head the market development of a large commercial line of forage harvesters and square balers. He is a KSU graduate, and his wife, Angela, is a teacher. They have six children and four grandchildren.

Nutrition Now LLC recently announced registered dietitian Sam Gross completed the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management. The course provided up-to-date information on weight loss to include medication, behavior change and surgical intervention. The certificate will assist with outpatient, acute care, long-term care and public speaking on weight management.

Firefighter Tim Detrixhe recently was promoted from volunteer firefighter at Hays Fire Department. Detrixhe has dedicated more than a year of service since he began his career as a volunteer firefighter in 2012.

OSBORNE -- Allied Business Group Inc., a Kansas City-based mergers and acquisitions firm, announced Osborne-based Star Seed has been acquired by a private investment group consisting of Gladstone Investment Corporation (NASDAQ: GAIN), Broadgate Capital and Highline Equity Partners. Star Seed has produced, distributed and marketed high-quality seeds to the agriculture industry for more than 75 years. Led by brothers Tom and Dennis Lutgen, and partner Bob Hamel, the company serves customers across the U.S. and offers more than 500 products, including a variety of grass, wildflower, millet, grain and alfalfa seeds. Gladstone, a private equity firm headquartered near Washington, provides financing solutions for private equity sponsors and has invested in more than 250 companies across a broad range of industries. Dallas-based Broadgate and Denver-based Highline will partner with Gladstone to provide financial and operational resources to help the company expand into developing markets and further diversify its product line. They also will retain Star Seed's existing 17 employees.

The Department of Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars celebrated its 93rd anniversary at the state convention June 7 to 9 in Lenexa. The Kansas VFW has more than 24,000 members and more than 10,000 members in its Ladies Auxiliary. There are 145 posts divided into nine districts. The membership in the VFW is made up of men and women who have served their country honorably in overseas engagements. Herb Schwartzkopf, Post No. 7972 in Ransom, was installed as adjutant-qurtermaster at the convention. Gerald Marvin, Post No. 3147 in La Crosse, was installed as a state officer for the seventh district, while J.T. Plummer, Post No. 8873 in Goodland, was installed as the state officer from the ninth district.

McDonald's of North Hays and South Hays recently announced May Crew Member of the Month awards.  The recipients are Devin Steinert, North Hays, and Danielle Herl, South Hays. Steinert has been with the restaurant since April 2012, Herl since October 2012.
