USD 489 seeks advice on insurance

The Hays USD 489 Board of Education is seeking outside legal advice about the district's workers' compensation insurance.

Questions have come up whether the district will owe a short-term cancellation penalty of approximately $59,000 if the board moves forward on a motion to switch insurance companies.

Board attorney Bill Jeter declined to advise the board on the matter, which involves Insurance Planning Inc., saying he had a conflict of interest.
