Bomb threat at The Mall thought to be a hoax

A reported bomb threat at The Mall at Hays, 2918 Vine, is thought to have been a prank, according to a press release from the Hays Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, when a juvenile notified a police officer at the mall of a message in the men's bathroom about an explosive device. City of Hays police and fire department units responded, and mall staff were notified.

A reported bomb threat at The Mall at Hays, 2918 Vine, is thought to have been a prank, according to a press release from the Hays Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, when a juvenile notified a police officer at the mall of a message in the men's bathroom about an explosive device. City of Hays police and fire department units responded, and mall staff were notified.

A search of The Mall was completed, according to the press release, and no suspicious items were located.

"Evidence at this time indicates that this was a prank," the press release states.
