DHDC names new director
Downtown Hays Development Corporation today announced Megan Colson will be its new executive director. Colson most recently was employed as projects coordinator with the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce.
Colson, a Medicine Lodge native, is a December graduate of Fort Hays State University, where she led an award-winning fundraising organization and was recognized as executive director of the year by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She received her degree in communication studies with a minor in leadership.
Colson will begin her position with DHDC Sept. 23.
“We are very excited to welcome Megan as the new leader for the DHDC,” DHDC President Sandy Jacobs said. “She has tremendous experience in fundraising, as well as event planning, and she knows Hays is where she belongs. Her enthusiasm and experience will keep moving downtown into the future.”
Colson replaces Traci Standford, who announced her resignation last week.
