Just as dispatchers were broadcasting an attempt-to-locate announcement for an Oklahoma escapee, the suspect's car pulled up right near where a Hays Police officer was parked.

Because Oklahoma authorities said the escapee should be considered armed and dangerous, officers made a full scale felony stop.

Two women and the escapee, Joshua Dennis Nelson, 25, in the car "were all cooperative and Nelson was taken into custody without incident," Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler said Monday.

The arrest of Nelson was made at 12:02 a.m. Saturday.

Nelson apparently escaped from a work center in Sayre, Okla.

The HPD officer who spotted the car had been parked on Vine when dispatchers issued the attempt-to-locate notice. That's when the vehicle was spotted and subsequently pulled over.

Authorities had suspected Nelson might be in the area because the request to locate him was sent out shortly after they learned he might be in the Liebenthal area and heading north.
