Fire causes significant damage to Hays home


The Hays Fire Department responded to a house fire late Saturday night at 1701 Henry.

At 11:59 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where they found the fire fully involved, coming through the roof of the house.

The fire department used the aerial ladder truck and deck gun with two hose lines to douse the blaze. The house sustained a large amount of fire damage, according to a news release from the city.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal. Fire crews were assisted by the Hays Police Department and Ellis County EMS, Ellis County Rural Fire Department, emergency management and Midwest Energy.
