Hays City Manager Toby Dougherty announced the appointment of Kevin Kamphaus as the new golf course superintendent for Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course. He will assume his duties Monday.

Kamphaus has more than 21 years of experience as a golf course superintendent, including spending his last 15 years with Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield. He is a graduate of Fort Hays State University and has served on the board of directors for the Kansas Golf Course Superintendents Association and Kansas Turfgrass Foundation.

"Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position," Dougherty said. "Over the past five years, the Fort has become one of the top public courses in the region. With Kevin on board, the Fort has the potential to be one of the top public courses in the state. "

Kamphaus and his wife will be relocating to the Hays area.
