Ellis golf tournament will be in fallen veteran's honor

ELLIS -- A benefit golf tournament is set to raise funds for the CW2 Bryan J. Nichols and Fallen Veterans Memorial Highway Project.
Organized by Team Drive for Bryan, a leadership studies group from Fort Hays State University, the tournament will be at 9 a.m. April 26 at Ellis Golf Club.
Nichols, a native of Hays, was one of the pilots aboard a Chinook helicopter shot down by enemy fire Aug. 6, 2011, in Afghanistan.
Proceeds from the CW2 Bryan J. Nichols Benefit Golf Tournament will go toward funding the final two signs along Interstate 70, which would recognize Nichols and fallen veterans. Although the tournament is hoped to raise $1,500, $4,500 will be needed to complete the project, according to a press release from Steiner Scott of the Team Drive for Bryan group.
Registration for the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. April 26, with tee off at 9 a.m.
Tournament fees are $60 per person and $240 per four-person teams.
Registration is due by Friday. Information is available by calling (785) 657-7009, or emailing email@example.com.
Registration forms are available at www.fhsu.edu/leadership/Benefit-Golf-Tournament, Smoky Hill County Club, Hays Municipal Golf Course or Ellis Golf Club.
