First manufacturing job fair in Hays last week draws strong turnout

Tuesday's first job fair just for manufacturers was so well-received there could be more job-specific job fairs in the future.
"I think the feedback is we might try to do that more often, do some industry-specific ones," said Aaron White, executive director for the Ellis County Coalition for Economic Development. "We've already talked about doing one oil-field specific, things like that."
The manufacturers' job fair at The Mall at Hays attracted a half-dozen employers and approximately 50 job-seekers.
"Employers tell us they had some really good feedback," White said.
"One employer said they walked away with 15 good applicants that they think they want to follow up on."
White said there will be a general career fair in April.
