Standoff suspect faces federal charges
HUTCHINSON (MCT) — The Hutchinson man arrested July 4 after a 9-hour standoff with police has been charged in federal court on weapons charges.
Thomas F. Fee, 53, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a machine gun and one count of unlawful possession of a silencer, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
If convicted, Fee faces a maximum 10 years in federal prison on each count.
An officer responding to a noise complaint spotted Fee allegedly discharging a rifle in an alley. Fee fled into a nearby garage and initiated the standoff, which finally ended after officers fired tear gas into the garage and, when Fee fled the garage, knocked him down with a bean bag round from a shotgun.
Days after his arrest, police served a search warrant on two safes found in the garage, recovering three allegedly fully automatic weapons, an apparently homemade silencer and an estimated 10,000 rounds of ammunition.
Also indicted this week from the area, according to the AG's release, were:
--Kim Householder, 53, Tribune, is charged with unlawfully possessing a silencer attached to a Ruger SR-22 rifle.
--The crime is alleged to have occurred April 4 in Tribune. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case;
--Marla R. McDonald, 25, Garden City, who's charged with one count of Social Security benefit fraud, three counts of aggravated identity theft, one count of mail fraud and 11 counts of wire fraud.
Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred in 2011 and 2012 in Finney County.
McDonald faces up to 20 years on the mail and wire fraud charges.
The Social Security Administration -- Office of Inspector General investigated the case.
--Juan Trejo-Martinez, 54, a citizen of Mexico, is charged with unlawfully re-entering the United States after being deported. He was found July 5 in Finney County. If convicted, he faces up to 2 years in federal prison.
