KDP files complaint against Jenkins

TOPEKA -- Jason Perkey, Kansas Democratic Party executive director, has filed a request for investigation with the Office of Congressional Ethics and a separate, but related complaint with the Federal Elections Commission regarding potential ethics and campaign violations committed by Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kan.
The request for investigation and the FEC complaint allege Jenkins used taxpayer money to pay her campaign manager and official spokesperson Bill Roe or failed to properly report Roe's salary and other related expenditures on her campaign finance reports. Roe also serves as Jenkins' district director for her congressional office.
"It's clear that Rep. Jenkins has problems following rules and being forthright with the people of Kansas," Perkey said. "Whether she used our tax dollars to fund her campaign or failed to properly report her campaign expenses, both call into question her fitness for service. Rep. Jenkins owes her constituents an explanation: Is she incompetent, or is she intentionally deceiving Kansans."
