HHS student returns from D.C. study
Special to the HDN
WASHINGTON --The Bill of Rights Institute announced a Hays High School student, Delphine Burns, attended a week-long study program in Washington in July. Burns attended the Constitutional Academy, the nation's premier program for high school students to study the U.S. Constitution. The scholarship was provided by the Fred and Mary Koch Foundation.
Burns is a senior at Hays High School.
Together with students from across the country, Burns read the Founding documents and other primary source resources, discussing the ideals of the American Founding and contemporary issues. The studies were led by a mix of college professors, constitutional scholars, and subject-matter experts who demonstrated how history, economics, politics, and current events are all connected.
Burns also viewed historical documents at Newseum and visited the National Holocaust Museum.
