FOWLER — Congressman Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., announced Travis Couture-Lovelady of Palco as campaign manager for his 2014 re-election campaign.

Couture-Lovelady is a sixth generation Kansan from Palco who serves as state representative for the 110th District. He is the chairman of the western Kansas legislative caucus, which focuses on issues specifically related to rural and western Kansas.

"Congressman Huelskamp has been a fighter for conservative principles throughout his career in public service both in Topeka and Washington, D.C," Couture-Lovelady said. "I look forward to working to ensure the Big First District continues to be represented by Congressman Huelskamp's independent conservative leadership."

"Travis has been a rock-solid conservative and a leader in Topeka to protect our rural way of life," Huelskamp said. "I am pleased to add Travis Couture-Lovelady and his leadership to our team."

Couture-Lovelady is a graduate of Fort Hays State University. He interned for Congressman Jerry Moran and has worked for Sen. Pat Roberts, Sen. and Gov. Sam Brownback, along with State Treasurer Ron Estes. Couture-Lovelady  previously served as executive director of the Kansas Young Republicans and is the northwest quadrant director for the Kansas State Rifle Association. Couture-Lovelady first was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2012 with 75 percent of the vote.

While in Topeka, Couture-Lovelady has been a strong advocate for conservative values and serves as the vice chairman of the important Federal and State Affairs committee. This committee has passed many important pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment rights, and 10th Amendment bills during the past few years, increasing liberty for all Kansans and standing up to an overreaching federal government. He also serves on the Taxation Committee, the Commerce, Labor and Economic Committee, and the Rules Committee.

Huelskamp is a Republican from Fowler. He represents the First Congressional District of Kansas (also known as the "Big First"). He remains a strong advocate for his constituents in the Big First and has emerged as a top conservative leader in Washington, fighting for Kansas values even if it means challenging party insiders and special interests. He stands against wasteful government spending, out-of-control debt and runaway over-regulation, and for traditional marriage, protection of the unborn and a rural way of life.
