Offering a party on wheels, Diamond Luxury Limos, a local business that started April 1, is bringing a new mode of celebration to Hays streets.
Fort Hays State University senior and Hays native Aaron Dreher began converting the bus in early 2013.
At 22, his easy-going manner seems to disguise a highly motivated entrepreneur.
Dreher converted an Access bus to a party bus by replacing its standard seating with bench seats, bars, a stereo and television. The bus seats up to 20. Highlighting the features inside the party bus, Dreher, an industrial technology education major, pointed out the built-in bar, interior padding and decorative interior lighting.
"The bad part of not buying one that's already built is that it's kind of plain in here now," he said. "But once I get some more stuff done, it's going to look pretty neat."
Dreher continues to add items as he tweaks the party unit and hopes to add a few new business ventures down the road.
"I'm looking at expanding into limos, too," Dreher said. "I'm going to buy a limo SUV and also a towncar limo."
He's done about five celebrations since opening, and markets his business through Facebook and word-of-mouth. Dreher said he has found bachelor and bachelorette parties and weddings have been his most popular occasions.
"The wedding parties I've had here, they've loved it," he said. "I did a bachelor party last weekend and they loved it. They had a lot of fun."
Diamond Luxury Limos operates by appointment only and does not offer taxi service.
