No injuries in Hays plane crash
No injuries were reported when a single engine airplane crashed during landing at Hays Regional Airport Friday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1996 fixed single engine airplane, piloted by Trevor J. Shaw, 27, Granada, Colo., was attempting to land southbound on runway No. 16 at 12:24 p.m. As the plane was rolling to a stop, a gust of wind caught its left wing, lifted the left landing gear off the ground and turned the plane sideways.
When the gear touched back down, it collapsed under the weight of the aircraft, and the plane came to rest on the runway.
Shaw's passengers, Toby D. Kandt, 28, Holly, Colo., and Taylor J. Kandt, 26, Walsh, Colo., reported no injuries.
