Planned Parenthood loses funding; closing
The Hays branch of Planned Parenthood will be closeing at the end of June, the result of a recent court decision stripping the group of family planning money.
The Hays Health Center will be closing its doors June 30.
Planned Parenthood's Wichita Health Center will remain open, the result of community donations.
The clinics are part of the larger Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri.
"For more than 75 years, Planned Parenthood has been providing quality health care in Kansas," PPKM interim CEO Ron Ellifrits said in a statement announcing the closing. " While our services in Kansas are going through some change right now, what will never change is Planned Parenthood's commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable health care to women and men in need. We're still here for our patients, and we are fighting every day to maintain, restore or expand access to health care in Kansas despite all of the obstacles in our path."
